Rokeby opens it’s gates to ‘The Angels’

Marija & I are very happy to announce that our front office at Rokeby Studios has been snapped up by the exciting Sydney based company Filmgraphics Entertainment as headquarters for their local angelic duo of Raph & Gab more commonly known as ‘The Angels’. I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with these guys for quite some time and am so excited that they’ve decided to joined us in Collingwood. A big high five to our new friends at Film Graphics and welcome to The Angels!
Here’a little blurb all the talented twosome.
The Angels – Earning their wings at Cannes in 2008, The Angels have gone from strength to strength. Comprising of director, Raphael Elisha, and producer, Gabriel t Ireland, Anna admits that she has never seen Angels fly so low.
Originally meeting at film school, Raphael and Gabriel took an instant liking to each other – though both assured the other that it was purely platonic. They were like chalk and cheese and yet they complemented each other perfectly
Even though they didn’t know it yet, The Angels were born. They quickly grew impatient working as students, and in 2002, formed their own production company. Not knowing what they were doing, they soon realised that it would have been wiser to remain students a little longer.
However, learning quickly on the job, the two of them managed to score a handful of music videos with Roadshow Entertainment and Universal Music, and off they went. In 2005, their company produced a TVC for Jaguar as part of a competition held by Jaguar, and came runner-up. They comforted themselves in the knowledge that they preferred Mercedes over Jaguar anyway. Having said that, it did give the pair a hunger for more TV commercials and so the hunt began.
But the hunt proved longer than anticipated. They looked everywhere but the TVCs were nowhere to be found. Gabriel, cleverly noting that things he had lost often turned up behind the sofa, promptly searched under every cushion in the house only to be disappointed.
So they continued to produce high-end corporate films, music videos and online branding videos, in the hope that a TVC would suddenly appear. 2008 began to draw near, and the pair were growing frustrated. Raphael began searching online for medical clinics accepting doctors with no training or experience, whilst Gabriel spent his time deciding who was the most valuable Creative Director to kidnap. Not sold on the idea of throwing in the towel, the two Angels decided to create more of their own TVCs. They began with a Mitsubishi commercial, which was produced for the Tropfest Super Short Series competition, and won it. Content with this victory, the pair decided to take on the world and created another test commercial, for Allianz Insurance, and entered it into the Cannes Young Director Award. They won this too.
The pair started to gain interest from the industry and the TVC briefs began to show themselves. Gabriel decided to release Steve Back.
They have now found their home at Filmgraphics and look forward to a plethora of TVCs, industry cred and David Denneen signature toothpicks.
